An S2 has caught my eye, 23,000 miles, indoor storage since 1975. From the Midwest (I am guessing) looks very good, non-runner, but seller emphasizes the engine "turns over". My main concern is not the motor, in fact I might consider doing a swap if I bought the car. My concern is the chassis, do they all rust out?, or only cars that are neglected or driven often in the wet (can't imagine many of them driven in the snow, could lose the thing in a big drift).

I would be interested in the car if it just needs mechanical, I do not want to do a body off-just don't have the gumption, and as I have gotten older I have realized I like driving them and doing middle to little jobs, rather than tearing them all apart and cleaning and painting big and small components for years.

About 16 bolts are all that hold the S2 body to chassis, IIRC. But I sympathize with your reluctance to start a big resto.

The front uprights at their base and "T" chamber of the frame are the main spots to look for rust. Good luck!

Thanks Doc, I hesitated and lost, but the car sold pretty fast, which makes me think it may have been pretty decent, oh well.
