roared up the event held at the zentrum at the bmw plant in spartanburg. anxious to get some good pics and infor on the austin healey 100 6. well...shucks...only six healeys being shown! four later roll up window cars, one 3000, and one 100 4....so much for my hoping to get some good info. i surely thought there would be many more...might have been the least represented marque at the show!!!

I think the 2008 Eurofest honored Austin-Healey; would've liked to have gone, but we were there just a couple weeks prior for the last BMW sponsored Roadster Homecoming. Those were some good times, and where I met you (driving a SBC powered 911, as I recall)!

good recollection randy! still have the 911 and have added the healeys....kinda my first love! bought one of your kits a few years ago for a bmw mcoupe. and you have helped me on several projects and i thank you for that!!!

If it's about cars, good chance I'll remember it (maybe even from my infancy!) just don't ask me where the last non-car related event took place, or who I talked to!!

I'm sure I told you all this before, but there was a guy in Toledo with a 911 Targa Carrera-look that had an all aluminum (bored/stroked) 427" SBC in it. It was radical, with unpainted carbon-fibre panels everywhere! I have no idea how much he spent on that car, but (at that time) it probably would've bought a 100/Sebring (back when they cost what a 100/M does now...). I do remember him telling me he had $20k in the engine; inconceivable then, but having since built a couple of ///M engines in the $12-13k region, I can believe it.

Edit: I do remember when you bought the kit for the Coupe, and pretty sure you drove that up to the Hotel at least once to show me. You and your son (the weldor) did the installation, so my thanks to you as well!

im not that radical about mine...just like the power even though they are just street cars. the 911 has a dart all aluminum 434 cubic inch sbc with efi that develops almost 600 at the crank. it has most turbo suspension, brakes, etc and weighs 2200 pounds. the 930 on the otherhand has a mast motorsports ls7 that dynoed at a little over 700 at the crank. but i have gotten back into healeys and really am enjoying working on the bn6... too bad the bmw event was cancelled in this area...always loved to look at the z3m coupes!!
