I hope I don't bore too many people with this post.
Our Daughter will be graduating photography school in
Western Mass.,the middle ofJune.
I was thinking that it'd be nice to drive back there.
I'm considering my options.Drive there,sell the car,& fly
home.Drive there,& drive back.Or just fly there/back.
I like to meet Ben in person,& visit with other Forum
members along the way.I could take the '67 Cortina,or the
'78 Datsun B210 Hatchback.
Help me out here with some thoughts/ideas.

or fly there and buy a car and drive back. I don't know if this applies in the US or not but in Canada it used to be that if you buy a car in another province and drive it to your own province the gov will return the sales tax that you paid.
 
angliagt, great news about your daughter! if you find yourselves taking i95 in the ct. area id be fun to do breakfast, lunch, perhaps dinner, maybe even spend the night if ya like, got plenty of room.

How easy do you think you could sell a car in winter? Do you have a set date you need to come back?
 
Fly there, rent a car, enjoy the ceremonies, then drive back rested with no real time lines of when and where you have to be.
 
I like Rays idea. fly out, rent, and drive back.
Hopefully we can do a dinner at Seneca Lodge or something. Lots of places to stay in Watkins, as long as it's not a race weekend.
Keep us posted.
I imagine there are a few BCFers you's be able to have a meal with on a cross country tour.

I'll be heading there in June (she graduates on the 19th).
I'd like to drive back,as this has always been one of the
ideas "In the back of my mind",for ages.I'd like to do it in
a British car,but may end up taking one of the Datsun B210s
that I have.Of course,there's the '67 Cortina (or the TR6).
I'd also like to attend any British car events that I could.

In my youth, I drove a TR4 from San Diego, CA to Balston Spa, NY. Then Six months later did the opposite. While the dream was there, the trip in a TR4 was not fantastic. Uncomfortable and noisy is the best description I can give.

Would I do it again? Probably.

I will bet that by the time you take your trip, renting a nice one-way car will be less expensive then flying.
 
nothing like a road trip to clear ones head. drive. whatever car you think will make it. it is a beautiful country.

The only part of the US that I disliked driving through was the Texas panhandle. Miles and miles of flat land, with only hours of hardcore country and western music on the radio to keep you company. Fortunately, when driving at 80MPH, you can barely hear the radio.
 
i love the radio. it keeps one in touch. driving thru no mans land, i just drove thru fort peck indian reservation in montana. just at dawn npr started playing indian war dance music as i entered. as close as i could describe as a vision. but i am a white guy. kept driving. i still think, bland and majestic it is all beautiful.

I did have a gun. my wife thought it was unloaded. what would be the point of that?
 
Husband and I are talking about going to Massachusetts the first week of October. We are trying to decide if we will just fly there and back or put Agatha in her trailer and drive. Then we could enjoy her while in New England. We're thinking it would be a 4 day drive to and a 4 day drive back and then we would spend about 5-6 days based out of the Southbridge area. We have friends and family in Massachusetts and it has always been a thought in my head of driving some of New England in my Healey. Also have thought it would be nice to meet up with some forum members and perhaps even get in a Healey or British car event. Decisions, decisions. I am grateful that we are blessed to be able to have such a delemna. (spelling?)

I will be curious to see what you finally decide to do.

I'd take the Healey in the trailer,& enjoy the
scenery!
It's so refreshing to hear someone who is "grateful-
- that we are blessed",to make such a decision.I'm so tired
of people with multiple expensive vehicles who feel that they
deserve them.I wish more people had your view on things.
I'm not rich,but I appreciate nice cars.I don't know if
I can drive to Conn.,but I hope that I'm able to have the choice.
