Ethnic Food

This weekend we had greasy back beans, squash and onions,
fried okra. Southern ethnic. Throw in a good pulled pork and I'm good to go.
Wife makes Syrian rice that is to die for which we usually
eat with stuffed grape leaves or squash and some grilled lamb chops as our favorite mid-east eating.
Fried green tomatoes, black eyed peas.....yummy.
Pinto beans and cornbread. (drooling at the thought)
Around here an old tradition for New Year's Day is
collard greens and blackeye peas with pork.
We call it greenbacks and change. Good luck charm for finances
in the coming year.
We always plant some Mortgage Lifter tomatoes for good luck too.

My family is old-school American, traced back to the Pilgrims and their contemporaries. and for some reason it seems most of the roots go back that far, and come from England, Holland, and France. Not a lot of recent import influence, But Italian food was Grandmas' specialty. Spaghetti and hommade meatballs, and Lasagna that has ruined me for life. I can't get lasagna from anywhere that even comes close to my Moms (grandmas recipe).
Other than that it's breakfast that is my favorite. Bacon, onions, and peppers in scrambled eggs with Paprika. Sausage and eggs, or a bit of spam. some real good orange juice, and strong coffee. fresh buttered toast. All double good if cooked over a campfire (Except the orange juice of course)

Let's hear it for SPAM & EGGS!!!

My ethnic food background takes me to McDonalds drive thru. :wall:

Link Trainers and Rosarita Refries.

I'm of Czech decendents (on my Father's side).
I found a Czech resturaunt in Wilson,Kansas,where
I was finally able to try Czech desserts.
