Englewood car show

Drove to Englewood, FL Saturday to see the car meet that is held on the first Saturday of each month. Over 100 cars, mostly muscle cars and hot rods with huge V8 engines, some supercharged with claimed 800 hp. I only saw a few sports cars; an MGB, Sunbeam Alpine, Porsche, Austin-Healey and many Corvettes. Florida is the home of the Corvette, most owned by 80-year olds. I'm not a big hot rod fan but the workmanship and finish of most of them was outstanding. Weirdest was a Crosley station wagon with an LS1 Corvette engine, proving you can shoehorn a V8 into anything. The restaurants on Dearborn St. were doing more business that day than the rest of the week I'll bet. Wife and I had dinner later at Beach Rd. Bistro. Enjoyable afternoon. If you're in South Florida, you might enjoy an afternoon in the sun and a seafood dinner afterwards.
