engineering question

Probably what we used to call rock lath. It was in 16 x 48 inch pieces and nailed using blue nails. The old timers used to put the nails in their mouths and pick one out as they needed it. The hammer used was a hammer head that was textured on one end and an axe on the other. They kept the axe razor sharp and used it to cut the board.
