Engine Trouble?

So I am getting ready to turn over my rebuilt 1275 for the first time. Filled up the oil filter with oil, and started pouring oil from a quart container into the filler port. I got to my third quart. And what happened; the valve cover filled all the way up to the top and then very.... very.....slowly emptied into the sump. Do I have a problem?
I never had that happen before on any engine.

I doubt there is a problem.

I doubt it too. If it makes you feel better, pull the v/c and have a look.

Just make sure you let the oil leak down first, or you'll have one helluva mess.

My Jag, when I put a quart into it, fills right to the bottom of the fill port, then leaks down.

At what tempature was the oil you were installing, if it was the least bit cool it will take time to drain through head.

Ha, I bet we have all done that. Pour slowly.

Latest report, filled it up, finished starter wiring, and cranked it over. 30 seconds later; 45 psi oil pressure, yes!!!
thanks for your help. Another small hop for a Frog!
