TR2/3/3A engine / trans installation

greetings all

I am getting ready to install my engine / trans assembly in my 60 TR3A. Before I do is there any prior installations I should preform to avoid issues later , ie brake lines, throttle linkage, steering column, etc .

Yes to brake lines throttle linkage, steering column, and add painting and grommet replacement of the firewall. Radiator repair. Install with the transmission is the easier way. I will see if Tony P can chime in also, we just did his about 3 months ago.

First, welcome RJ!

Firewall issues such as dents, rot, brake fluid induced peeling paint etc are all easier without the engine in. Ditto all the other lines etc..

Don't think suspension etc matters as a must-do now from person experience.
 
If you have the man power, it might be easier to put theengine on the frame first and leave the carbs and manifolds off then put thetub on, but it is do able either way. Now would be a good time for the gas pedallinkage. I forgot to put that on once and I had the tub and engine on theframe. I totally freaked, but was able to get the gas pedal on somehow. I consideredit a miracle. Anyways you could put the trany on later. It is more work, butwith the exhaust off, it is easier. The other stuff can be put on later.
