Engine Stand XK150 What works?

Im going to start a build of a '59 XK engine and need to know what engine stand/s are ok for the process. I am thinking to assemble the engine and transmission on the stand and transfer the unit into the car when complete. It was awful heavy when I pulled it but that was a long time ago. Ill rent the hoist when it goes back together but want to buy the stand. Any advise is appreciated.
 
I've only seen custom built engine stands for the Jaguar and all of them built by the people working on them. Every stand I saw was equipped with radiator and gauges for test running before installing. I would say I've seen 5 in all and they were pretty ingenious in design. Might search for engine stands and see what comes up.
 
I bought a XK140 a couple of years ago. Engine and trans were on a homemade stand, I still have that stand. You're welcome to it. I'm about a 5 hour drive from you. PM me if interested

I've seen pictures of custom stands that look like a minature rotisserie. Bolt to the engine mounts in front and the bellhousing flange in the back so as to avoid a large weight cantilevered off it. Probably could mahe one with two regular stands.
 
Marvin, thanks for your offer. I am looking for a stand that will allow the engine to be positioned pan-up or head up or even side up, etc so I can really "get to it" during the rebuild. The engine is currently disassembled and I need to put it back together. Because the engine is so long compared to modern V8's (with out the transmission being attached) I just wondered if any body with experience would recommend a engine stand that is sturdy and not likely to tip over. Does your stand allow the rotation of the engine?
