Hello all, my first post here. I just purchased a 1979 MG Midget 1500 from the original owner in California. The car was purchased new in San Diego and never left the state, so the body is extremely nice with a few door dings received over its life.
Prior to the purchase a lot of pics and email was exchanged (I drove from Colorado to trailer it back), and a promise of the original window sticker. Well, on my arrival, no window sticker, so I was a bit disappointed, but was not going to drive back empty handed.
Yesterday in the mail was a thick package from the owner with the all his receipts and the original window sticker (I'm happy now!). Matching up the serial numbers on the window sticker shows an engine serial number of -0068401- which I'm not able to find on the engine. The only number that resembles close to a serial is -FP68537UCE- which is stamped on the left rear side of the block. Could the serial be any other place?
My assumption is the engine has been replaced. Do you guys agree?
Dave
