Hello all, seems a foolish question but, 58 100-6 in refurb for 3 years, engine rebuilt some time ago. I want to squirt oil in cylinders and turn crank with large ratchet a turn or two before cycling oil thru galleries and attempting to start. Can anyone tell me whilst standing in front of car which direction the engine normally turns - clockwise or counter-clockwise?
 
Easiest way to do what you are trying is to remove plugs and turn engine on starter until oil pressure shows on guage. Then put plugs back and start. I do that after every lay over for the winter and no problems so far.
I think engine turns clockwise viewed from front.

Thanks for the input, Ian I had heard that with a rebuilt fresh motor having sat for some time, there was increased risk of breaking a piston ring, and wanted to "easy turn" a bit - in the right direction. I have also read a couple of descriptions on this forum of "charging" the motor with oil prior to turning with the starter which I am also figuring on. Thanks again to all.
 
Doesnt matter which direction the motor turns. You can work the crank back and forth, after adding oil in cylinders, to get the motion going then bump it over with starter.
