looks like around $5000 you can get 150 HP out of our TR6 and you can go higher $9800 you can push 268 HP has any one used these guys? I would definately think very serious about them if or when I pull my engine for rebuild

ummm... please excuse me. I must sit on my hands now.

A big OUCH!!

Wendy will never go for.

I have now just about replaced everything in the
Crypt Car that belonged to DPO Pedro.. Everything
except the engine and differential.

When DPO Pedro's engine fails, it's gonna cost me upward
of another $10,000.?? That will push this dead TR6 toward
the $60k range and still on blocks!

Ouch! Might be Crusher Time loomimg in Crypty's future.

Dale, if you are still planning on Crypty being reliable stay very far away from that 268hp engine. That would be a full race engine from those people and would not be fun to try and motor along reliably. I'm not sure your drivers license could take the abuse either... /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

As far as Paeco... I'll play it safe and join Doc.

I would definately stay from the 268 HP engine but I was more interested in their I think its the SRE engine, a stage 2 but as they say detuned for reliability. its also interesing that they have a stroker kit too

I think I'll stick with my thought of installing
a nice used Suzuki Grand Vitara V6 when dpo Pedro's
engine blows up. That is a very reliable engine.

Paeco can take your engine past the 3 liter mark. I was very interested in their SRE package also but decided against it because I did not know anything about them except for their website and did not get much response indicating good or bad when I mentioned them in forums.

I felt that with a large company like that I could be at the mercy of whoever happened to show up for work that morning. Understand that is just how I felt and did not want to trust my money to find out.

Instead I found that I have an excellent rebuilder in my own backyard. He has an excellent reputation and after talking with him I found that he knows his stuff and has a complete shop to do anything that I will ever need. And from the customers he has through many years I felt very comfortable. I also knew the shop he started in more than twenty years ago and the person he learned from.

He very recently brought in a TR6 that belongs to someone in California. It was in a shop near Milwaukee for several years. If the owner happens to see this send me a PM.

Whew! Pricey!

I built a 354 Chrysler Hemi (with the blower) for under $5K.

Now I must admit that I did a lot of wheeling and dealing with my blower set-up but the complete engine (assembled) was less than $4000. Forged pistons, Clay Smith custom ground cam, King bearings, Melling oil pump, bored, sleeved, decked, heads cc'd, line honed, yada-yada-yada. Parts and labor.

I bought the parts and my local machine shop did the machine work and assembly. I normally assemble my own engines but for an extra $300.00 what-da-hay.

Horsepower is made in the cylinder head, cam, intake and exhaust. A good porting job shouldn't run more than $500.00 or so. No real downside to engine reliability, either. A little cam and a good header and you'll get close to 200 HP and have a LOT more cash in your pocket.

Me too. As Basil actively discourages vendor bashing in his house, I won't say a word about them.
