Giday guys.

Most of you may know, after thousands and thousands of $'s being spent on the top end, head, valves, seats, darn WELL EVERYTHING... its only natural that my B (which hates me btw) now wants a bottom end rebuild!

I took the B to my mechanic today, had a chat.

He goes" U and that Bloddy forum Jarrod, u always come in here armed with info from there, over exaggerating sounds n squeaks n all sorts of stuff... YOUR CAR's A PIECE OF Doo Doo, GET OVER IT!"
LOL! - i found it quite ammusing

Anyways, i told him about all the symptoms, etc...
He actually agree'd that the main bearings are F'd
He gave me a quote for somethin like 3k (AUD) for a bottom end rebuild. - I have to say, right now is not the best time FINANCIALLY for me to have to deal with this sorta SH*T!
Thats kinda why i didnt want to hear what u guys were saying. - but thanks ne ways, im sure u guys have prob saved me an engine. Cheers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I spoke to my dad, he has had a bit of experience in lifting engines, he said he'd be more than interested in doing a bottom end project with me. God knows i hardly see my dad ne ways, so he's thrilled! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

THIS IS MY CHANCE TO REALLY CLEAN UP THAT Doo Doo HEAP!
hehehehe

Tough times with the "B" Jarrod, Get it done right. May I suggest though, in respect to some of the language in your postings, that you refrain from using it here. The mood Basil is in, in regards to the Humour forum... Well... Just a heads up. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Re: ENGINE PROBLEMS again - I need a RB26dett in

Jarrod,

I had never rebuild and engine until I did the one in my B. It's a good one to learn on as it's very simple and basic in design. There is a video out there "Dr. Doolin's Total Engine Rebuild". It's great for a first timer. It shows you in real time how to pull, take down and rebuild and MG engine. Try and get a copy. You will need a good torque wrench, a clean bench and room to keep everything organised. Take photos, bag and label everything. It's also REAL IMPORTANT to get the ROD CAPS with their ROD and mark the MAIN CAPs so you know from where they came. YOU CANNOT GET THESE OUT OF ORDER!!! I don't have a currency converter, but when I rebuilt mine, it cost $450 US for the machine work and $650 US for parts. Unless your clutch is brand new I would replace it too. That's another $150 US.

Good luck!
