i am restoring a 67 3000, the engine has been painted blue and the 2 plates(austin and valve setting) on the valve cover are decals , not metal having no signs of rivet holes! this seems strange since all i see in pics is the green paint and metal plates.

any ideas?

Hello,

The enginecolour is not blue but Healey green/silver
The valvecoverplates were used both types with rivets and as decal
I use to check the Moss.com pictures ;-)) as a first reference

My 1967 (built in late 1966) BJ8 has decals on the valve cover. Generally speaking--there may be exceptions--the later cars had decals instead of plates. I think this practice started on the BJ8s, but may have started earlier. Anyone know for sure?

My BJ8 also had decals instead of riveted plates on the valve cover.

HI Keeth, I have seen these blue engines from time to time. I think they are some rebilders signature but I do not know who it it.Fwiw--Keoke
