TR2/3/3A Engine noise in TR3A

I've been trying to find this noise since last year. Sounded like a loose rocker but I set the valves twice and the noise was still there. Didn't knock or anything at idle. It sounded like it changed with the engine rev's - sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Long story short, it was the water pump pulley. I pryed it off with a couple of pry bars and noticed that the outer inside edge had been rubbing on the pump studs. Looking closely, compared to a spare, the bump inside the pulley was a little buggered up so I measured the depth from the backside edge to the top of the "bump" and compared it to the spare. The spare pulley was about 1/8" less deep.

So I swapped the pulley and all is well.

It's great to drive and not have to listen for what's wrong. Nice and quiet now. My left rear shock puked oil over the winter so that's next.

It's always something.... but isn't that part of what we love about these old machines.
I always get great satisfaction out of repairing things.
