Any wisdom on jacking the car up to change the engine mounts?

I'm thinking that getting the new ones on may be easy, but lowering the engine back down with a jack so the holes slide thru the mount might not be so easy.

When I replaced the mounts on the Spit, I was able to use a hoist. I didn't have to move the engine much, as I recall. The first time i tried to replace the mounts I used a jack and a six foot pry bar. T.T.

ive done it once. the fronts i did one at a time with a jack under the pan. had to rock the engine a little to get height enough to slip the mount in but not to bad working alone. the radiator hozes might have reached but i took them off.
the rear which is the one that broke i did on my back. other than that not to hard, or its right under the tunnel.

I put a 2X4 under the front of the oil pan to act as a load spreader and then slowly jacked the engine up until the weight was removed from the mounts; don't go too high because of the cross beam. Once changed, a bit of sideways engine wiggling was needed, but they aligned quite easily.

Same with a wood block under the TR3 (about the same I believe). No real problems if you eyeball everything while lifting etc. Easier than I thought it would be. I've had folks warn about lifting too high and bending the throttle bar behind the engine on the firewall but had no issue with that, lift it just enought to clear for disassembly, don't know if that is the same on your 4.
