We all wonder how many more we have in us. It’s all a state of mind. For a week I’ve been asking myself which way I faced those crank thrust washers. No way I’m tearing things down to look. But I don’t recall that level of second guessing ten years ago. Geo knows I’ve been considering a car lift for my garage. For years I’ve considered it. I keep postponing it, figuring as long as I’m manually jacking up the car and sliding under like a high school gear-head I might last longer. I’ve seen Geo’s XKE. It’s a thing of beauty. A piece of artwork. Like jewelry.
 
Like I've said before...many times I've torn things back down for second guessing...all the way back to my first car in my teens! So I don't think it's an age thing...
 
Wow Geo that would really lift the car up and be stable. The tire is a foot of the ground, so the frame must like 16 inches or so. I am probably going to try that for ease of work. I am still crawling with the gearheads of the day KVH pretty much for the same reason.

I made my cribbing in two sections with some 2x2 'keys' to hold them together. That way I can raise using just a half or remove the keys and use a half on each corner.

It's a time-proven means of support dating back to the Pharaohs.
 
What procedure did you use to lift the vehicle that high? Two jacks at a time, each side? And did you use one crib section at a time?
 
Halfway then one set of cribs, then the rest of the way and the second set. In that example I raised the other end onto jackstands in between the sets of cribs.

A very stable set-up (was removing the IRS).
 
I’ve seen it in person. What hurts is the organization and cleanliness. I drive away feeling like a heathen.
