Do I need to pull the transmission tunnel to replace emergency brake cable or is there an easier method? Thanks, jeff

That will help a bit. But it can all be done form up under the car.

Looks to me it would be all but impossible to do it from under the car due to the frame being in the way . Have you done this job from under the car before, thanks for your post, Jeff

JEF:
My tunnel was off because I had just finished installing the tranny.
However on a later car I do remember fighting to in.stall one from underneath the car

Good info , I messed with it a little yesterday and seems like I can unbolt differential end of drive shaft and move it up out of the way and I believe I can get to it . thanks again. Will let you know .
