'72 TR6 Last week the car stopped on the road. Dead, total blackout, no lights, starter, nothing. The problem was the power to the ignition switch from the ammeter became discontinuous(the exact failure is yet unknown). The short term fix was to run a jumper from an unused tab on the overdrive junction through the firewall alongside the main harness and connect to the ignition switch. It seems that with such a complete failure mode that can occur without any warning, having an emergency "hot wire" in the tool box/road kit/glove box could save the day should it happen to you while on the road. About 2 1/2 ft long, with a 3/8 in slide-on connector on one end and a 1/4 in connector on the other end is all it takes. I used 12 ga wire to handle the load. Maybe I should go into production and market these! Sort of like the emergency bonnet release device... Happy driving!
