First off, glad to hear it's all solved -- that's got to feel good.

As far as responsibility -- my take is that if the buyer arranged the shipping then your official responsibility ends the moment the shipper takes the car off your property (the classic taillight warranty

). That said, helping out as you did was the right thing to do.
