Email Problem

Suddenly I can't send any emails - from my hotel room...my email guys are trying to figure it out...I sent a couple of PM's - Jack, did you get one?

Yes tony but I was away from the computer for about an hour.

Dinner and covering door pockets on Miss Agatha.

Yep - on road til 15th

today when I came in, I couldn't send emails through Outlook Express....everything at my email provider is right - everything in my laptop appears right...we'll wait for the big techee guys in the sky to come to work tomorrow morning.

Tony - You may already have this sorted out, but I have been in situations where the netowork I was on did not allow outgoing mail to external mail servers. It's a form of spam/virus protection since many viruses send out mail that way. I've would up using my providers webmail client through a web browser, and it worked fine that way (local network only sees web traffic).

Yup, what drooartz said. I have the same problem since bellsouth stopped allowing use of their servers on a "foreign" network. I have to reconfigure everything to send via my own servers when I'm on the road, then switch everything back to bellsouth when I come back.

They're afraid you're trying to spam thru a proxy. PITA to config/reconfig every time you walk thru the door... I use a web-based SMTP/POP service like Yahoo mail or suchlike when I'm 'out-and-about'. I ~can~ directly access my mail server, but too lazy to go thru it. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

My email is always through a one of those...3rd party.

I'm gonna try removing the XP firewall because I think it might be fighting th hotel's wireless firewall.

No, I still don't have it solved.

Think I've got it figured out....Hotel has a serious firewall that's conflicting with my Norton & the XP firewalls I run on my computer...so, to send emails from here, I have to turn Norton off & disable the XP firewall to send emails (trusting their firewall to protect my computer) & then turn them on to surf the net.

Don't think I'll do that....I'll figure out how to send email directly off my server in Atlanta....if you're not getting stuff from me, please use PM.
