Hi All.

First post - look forward to some expert advice.

Have a 1963 Elva Courier. Synchro's going in original 4 speed trans. Tucker at Autosport inc recommends rebuild. Have had good luck with 5 spd conversion for MGTD. Have not driven car since rear end replaced with 3.9 gearing. Tucker says that will improve cruising at speed. Tucker knows these cars extremely well and I respect his opinion BUT can't get 5 spd out of my mind. Any one have any experience with any of this? How about MGB overdive replacement? Thanks.

First, let me say welcome to the forum. I can't claim to have any experience with Elvas but if it were me I'd seriously consider going with the five speed conversion. A five speed will give you higher gears for the high way and won't take away from your low end in first.

Welcome, Rix!

Pipe up in the Racing section of the forum, Michael Oritt and some others would likely be able to suggest options.
