Elise Launch

ouch!!! livid wouldn't begin to touch the surface of where I'd be in a situation like that...

Hopefully, the garage will pay for the repairs and not attempt to weasel their way out of that...

some real winners posting on that site - scroll down and read the comments. sucks about the car though. although there is less visible damage than i'd have expected.

Somewhere in the shop manual it states that ANY damage to the clams should be considered structural. OUCH!

...and yeah, there are some VERY moronic folk loose among us.

Sad situation but neat to see the bottom of the car - I had no idea the bottom of the Elise looked like that!

I particularly like the NACA scoops around the engine bay area.

So why was this guy putting snow tires on his Elise?

In Florida?

snow tires? says he was having Goodyear F1 G3 tires fitted. I don't think the tires that are in the foreground of one of the pics are F1G3s... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

those tires in the foreground of the rear shot of the car look like they belong on a SUV...

Looks like a snow tire to me /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
(aren't real tires suppose to be smooth)

hmmmm... different tread pattern from what I've been finding:

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3:

from The Tire Rack

Far less rubber hitting the tarmac than the stock Yokohama ADVAN A048 tires. So road holding abilities are more than likely "impaired" compared to stock form, but I'm sure the tread life is probably 2 to 4 times longer too. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Thats what I heard - from a friend who's now written off two of them (and subsequently switched to Porsches)

Well that looks better than what popped up on my Google search.

So F1GSD3 = F1G3 /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Still looks like an odd tread pattern.
Does it rain a lot in Florida?

.... uhm... I wouldn't say "a lot" but it rains in FL way more than it does in SoCal.

yeeesh... I just looked at that other forum that was linked. The Elise was "totaled" from that accident. I reckon the considered it totaled cause every body panel but the doors has to be replaced... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
