Electronic Distributor

I puchased a Electronic Distibutor for my 1980 Spitfire. The directions were pretty simple. Content the 2 leads Red and green from the new distributor to the Coil red positive green negative. I'm not sure who put an old Points distributor from an MG on my spitfire but wanted to upgrade because the vacuun advance was none functional and not replaceable. The set up was the power from the ignition switch went to the Positive side of the coil. The negative side of the coil went to the distibutor points and the distibutor was grouned the engine. For some reason I can't get any spark/ignition from this new distributor. I thought maybe it was defective so I exchanged it for another one and stil not spark. Does any know if im doing someting wrong? Has anyone else had this problem?

Did you set up the points properly? The top hat insulator slides down between the the ring connectors and the stud and then snug down the nut.

NEW ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTOR
This will fit the 68 and newer cars. Triumph Spitfire 1500 engines.

These are new 45D distributors, negative ground, with modern magnetic type electronic ignitions in them. They also replace the 25D negative ground distributor. They will fit all MGBs and Midgets. Easy to install: install, hook up the two wires to the coil, the ignition wires, then time it. No more points or condensers to change. Timing will stay stable as with points timing changes as points wear.

try 2 of them could not get any ignition nut my old points distributor works fine but have no vacuum advance
