recently someone was describing how to remove the pins from the connectors on the harnesses - could you review that for me?

they don't seem soldered Jack - soldered to the wire yes, but press fitted into the nylon harness end.
 
It sounds like you're asking about the spade-type connectors inside nylon plugs and receptacles, not the bullet connectors. Is that correct?

If you are asking about the spade-type connectors, there are several ways to get them out. I forget what others posted on the previous thread, but I use a narrow piece of shim stock about 0.010" thick held in a pair of pliers. Push that down the inside of the connector along the flat side of the female spade connectors. It depresses the locking tang so you can withdraw the wire/connector from the plug.
 
Go to a Radio Shack type place the make a tool called a depinner. You can try a small screw driver to push back the lock tabs but most tims they are junk after without using the right tool. The pin comes out from the wire side of the conn.
 
I'm talking about the pins in the wire harness ends - (the Pic is not an LBC end - I just pulled it off google - how are they actually held in?

is right on about this.
Generally the crimped or soldered on ends inside the plug have a tang on them that when inserted catches on something and holds them in there. You need something long and slim to poke in there and press the tang down while removing the wire. sometimes they can be like the Chinese finger lock, where you may have to push the wire in while releasing the tang.
