TR4/4A Electrical Question - brake lights, fuel/gas gauges, turn signals failed

Good morning,

Took the TR4A up to Waveny Park in New Canaan, CT this morning for Caffeine & Carburetors. Great, great Sunday morning gathering of all things cars. Check it out: https://caffeineandcarburetors.com/

Anyway, upon pulling the car this morning I noticed no brake lights. Then as I checked, I had no turn signals, no heater blower motor, no gas gauge and no temp gauge. Other than that, everything else electrical related appears to be functioning normally.

Any suggestions on where to start looking? What's the common element to these items?

Thanks

Bob

What he said.

Thanks guys,

Saved me a lot of time. Wasn't even a blown fuse. Simply dirty contacts on the fuse which needed cleaning. Which is even better news b/c if it was a blown fuse I would be concerned with what caused it to blow.

So how's this for a coincidence. My 16 yr old son has his learner's permit. Last week he drove my 2003 Volvo wagon and the brake lights failed. Turns out it was a $12 12 volt relay. Last week I also taught him to drive a stick in the TR4A and today the brake lights didn't work. Hmmmmmm........

Thanks again guys

Bob

Hi Bob,
Saw your car at New Canaan this morning, looks great. I was the blue TR6 parked in front of you.
We have a group of Triumph guys that meet regularly in lower Fairfield Cty.
If you had blown a fuse, the first thing I would look at would be the heater motor since they have a tendency to short out which will knock out your brake lights, back up lights, etc..

I missed the event at Waveney. Had to do some cleanup at my office. I would be interested in meeting with other TRs in Fairfield County. I'm in Stamford. For those not from this area, this event started at Zumbach's, a coffee shop in New Canaan. Word spread and soon the streets of that little town were overflowing with sports cars, hotrods, etc. The Town said "no more" but allowed the event to be held at a large open park in New Canaan I believe once a month on Sunday am. I haven't been to one yet but I plan to as long as I get some notice.

Hi PD,
Send me an email at tac_90@hotmailDOTcom and I will get you on the mailing list.
We had a brunch/drive to Rosy Tomorrows in Danbury about a month ago.
Great group of guys, about 12 of us so far.
Tom

Bob this is off topic but I went to your link on your first post and could not help but enjoy the sounds of the non turbo F1 cars. I hope they return to the normally aspirated engines soon.

Tom C,

Thanks for the compliment. I definitely saw your very nice TR6 on my way out. I had to leave promptly at 9am as I had a full day of activities with the kids. I am not normally a show guy - I prefer to drive my car. Actually, this past Sunday at Waveny Park was the first time I displayed the car in 13 years. But....I would love to get together with fellow enthusiasts. I'll drop you a note at the email above to get on the mailing list.

Keith D,

That sound track comes from a CD titled "Open Pipes Symphony". The car you hear is a 3.5liter Ferrari V12 testing at the Paul Ricard circuit in France. It's awesome in stereo because you hear the car approach from the left and depart from the right!
