Electric Motor Question

I have a small Bodine Gear Drive Motor. On the back it says

120V 60HZ 8W - does this mean I can run it straight from the outlet or do I have to step it down?

Also, it has two sets of wires coming out - 2 black and 2 white - any thoughts why? could one be to reverse direction?

I can post pics if that would help - thanks all

Can'timagine AC being ~directional~. Gotta be a diode bridge in there.

120V 60HZ = You can plug it into the wall outlet.

8W = It's a small motor, about 1/10th of a Horsepower.

Hang on. According to the company link the starting capacitor is on two of those 4 wires.
Yes, you can plug it in, and unless you manually start it, it will overheat rapidly.
Check the links provided.
