Electric Fuel Pump

I have seen recommendations on a Facet Electric Fuel Pump to replace the mechanical BE fuel pump.

The Facet is a negative ground.

Will I have to isolate it from the car chassis, or is its case not actually grounded?

Can I mount the pump in the engine compartment or does it really need to go back by the tank?

The Facet pump will work with Negative or Positive ground. The closer to the tank the better.
 
Just as long as a pump has a gravity flow of fuel to it, it can be mounted anywhere. Usually it's best closest to the source. Reason being, when the pump is shut off you don't want the fuel to drain away from it possibly causing an air space in the line. Make sure the facet pumps pressure does not exceed the carbs limits.
 
When you mount a facet pump its a good idea to put two 1/4 length's of fuel hose as spacers under the mounting screw holes to isolate it from the body of the car. If not it will sound like mice with drums in the trunk!

Aren't there several models?
Some with plastic bodies ans some with metal?
Is the metal case not ground?
I will have to go our and look at my installation to see!
(Mine has the metal casing)
 
The metal case isn't supposed to be grounded, and the pump is supplied with two wires, not one.

I've heard stories on other boards that the newer plastic Facet pumps are generally of lower quality while retaining the same sound effects. Purely hearsay on my part. Both my LBCs have the metal case Facets.
