I have an Elan S1. I am curious to know how many other Elan owners who service their own cars remove the distributer when replacing the points.

Guilty..

I have sometimes, and sometimes not. It is easer to remove it, so that is how I will do it next time. I have no Twink now, but it is the same deal with my Cortina with side drafts.

I take off the distributor cap, and mark the shaft with a felt pen, and the alignment of the rotor. Then watch how much the rotor moves when you pull the distributor.

It is real simple to get it back in in the same orientation.

Um,

What's up with that BDA?

Good question.. I am going to just leave it for now until the Elan is disposed of. I have no room or cash to pick up a car to run it in, but it's ready to go and I'm looking forward to getting it fired up..
