Everyone commented on how most the 'girls' were holding up better than the guys. (could it be the wonders of modern medicine?)

Aint it funny how time slips away, {there is a song in there somewhere I think}
I went to one reunion {20th H.S.} Felt like a fish outta water, no one knew me nor I them. After about fifteen minutes I could no longer stand to be trussed up, and silently escaped into the bliss of my sweats and tee and headed for home.

I will admit: I'll be going to a "reunion" in September, one for old Combat Camera photogs who served in the Southeast Asian 'conflict'. That's a much better group of people, IMO. Had a 45 minute conversation with one of 'em I'd not seen or spoken to since '73.
Surprising what can happen because of the 'net. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Can the 'man' ever know the 'boy' or vice versa?

By-th'-by James, did we get a marathon report? Hmm?

I finished with a horrible time...but it's my first one, so finishing is finishing, as far as I'm concerned.

It was a real hoot to take a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway- even if it was on foot at a trot. I'll do it again next year, hopefully without the bronchitis and 87 percent humidity. In the mean time, I'll do some 5ks and 10Ks, and perhaps a half marathon in Chicago.

The Kenyans finished 1 and 2- no surprise there.

FINISH! Well done. Congrats.

The Kenyans seem to have been born running. Astounding. Contrast ~that~ with our societal devolvement into couch spuds. GAH!

Hey James,

Congrats on finishing your half, especially if you were not 100% health-wise. Speaking of Kenyans vs. American runners .. Do a search for Ryan Hall. He's a young born-in-the-USA runner who is doing great this year. He was actually leading in the '07 London Marathon for a few miles and ran a 2:08'xx" for this, his first marathon distance race. Considering he has gone sub one hour in the 1/2 marathon, he has the talent.

Cheers,
John
(3 weeks til the San Diego Rock'n'Roll marathon!)
