I use ebay maybe once a month, always for buying, paying via PayPal. I never use it for selling.

For the last year, ebay continues to email me, saying I haven't added my personal bank account information.

I see no reason for ebay to know my bank account data (routing and account numbers) if I don't use ebay for selling. I get the "You need to update your information!" emails every week or so. I've even had the "Without this information, your selling activity is locked and you will not receive payments."

I don't sell. Ebay knows I don't sell.

Anyone else ignoring the demands for bank data? "The more you share, the more likely you'll be a hacking victim."

Thanks.

I've sold items on ebay before, but when they implemented their new policy I stopped. Considered opening a separate account just for ebay and may still do, as it can be a good way to get rid of stuff. But don't like having to do so.

I get those notices all the time too.
Once eBay implemented the “you must give us your bank info” I quit using them for selling. Like others, I won’t hand over my bank info to them. It was nice to sell stuff but I don’t miss eBay.

Always considered a separate account as a prerequisite for Ebay selling. I did start a company account when they were a couple years into their existence, but never followed through with a "store" then. No idea if that still exists, password long lost too. Recently been buying optics and some miscellaneous things from the site, using PayPal as the in-between, mostly been good experiences.

Starting to think it should happen now as different Ebay & checking accounts, just as you say: to get rid of stuff.

If you give them that information you may be what is being sold.

I only buy there.

I did have a bad product recently and the seller accepted the return and e bay refunded my pay pal money to the credit card. The whole return and refund went off without a hitch.

Had a couple similar experiences recently. Two separate incidents, each resolved quickly without a problem. Refunds through PayPal. Each instance was an obvious problem in my favor, refunded the money in less than a week. I'll give them kudos for that.

I transferred all my items for sale from eBay to CL.
Disgusted with higher fees and lack of protection from criminal buyers.
I still buy from there when I absolutely need something.
Still getting emails from them to update my account info.
Not going to happen.

I use Paypal but not for selling. They don't need any more info than my credit card for paying for a purchase. If they want more than that, then I'm done with them. Simple. :sorry:

I also stopped using PayPal to receive money.
My preferred e-financial transactions are done with Zelle.
No fees ever, Cash goes into my bank, instantly.

I got a separate checking & savings account just for that.
Don't keep much money in either (as I don't have much).

You do realize that your account and routing numbers are on every check that you use. Pretty easy to get in the wrong hands.

I opened a second checking account for all my digital needs, Ebay, Amazon, etc.

I think electronic transactions are safer, the routing and account numbers are on every paper check. I don’t know if it’s still the case but when I used to get my credit card statement in the mail the full card number was on my bill that sat in my mailbox.

Check? What is a check??

(We write checks so rarely that writing one usually starts with a search for the checkbook... :D Seems most things have gone to electronic payment.)
