Wow, looks like 250 prices continue to be solid.

click me!

Between this and the concours MGC on eBay climing above 20k, guess I'm having a good day in the car market. I should drive my 250 home from the office *very* carefully. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Nice looking original car. Go to his website and it looks like he was asking $39,500 befor putting it on EBay. Wonder what his reserve is.

Rob.

I guess that confirms the answers about which cars had the chrome valve cover as OE.

A nice car to be sure but don't you just love those sellers who go on for ages bragging about how good they are...like I've got time to read your press releases!

That's a lot for a TR250. But if you think that's bad, go to eBay UK and watch the prices on TR-5s!!! I saw one this summer go for over 27,000 pounds ($approx. $54,000 US).

Ouch! The TR-5 is my favorite Triumph, but there's no way I could pay $50K + for any Triumph!

P.T. Barnum's rule is alive and well, methinks. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

Soooo....you weren't one of the bidders at last year's Barratt-Jackson auction for the TR4 that sold for over $97k? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/hammer.gif

That's a sweet car! If I owned one thats what it would look like.

Was this the subject of a debate I missed? I've been under the impression that all 250s had chrome valve covers. No idea about the 6, though.

Andy, you know that at Barrett-Jackson, there's an open bar for all bidders. And, many of them seem to have a drink in their hand on TV!

That may explain why someone would pay $97K for a Triumph, eh? So drunk he thoght it was a Ferrari! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thirsty.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cheers.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

The price on the green 250 continues to climb, but the auction for this really spiffy Valencia Blue car ends in a few hours, and the price is substantially lower. Click Here

Perhaps it's the lack of photos, or perhaps the tripple Webbers? Not sure why the latter would keep buyers away. I know there's a mystique about having an original car, but this Valencia Blue one looks like it's kept to original specs (aside from the carbs).

Maybe it's the Valencia Blue? Hard to say....

A few other variances include road wheels, steering wheel, green hoses (if you want to be painfully original, the 250 had "bumblebee" hoses). But none of those constitutes an irreversible modification...so maybe it IS the color?

I have to admit that I shuddered when I saw those bumblebee hoses! My 250 retained an original heater hose -- between the valve and the firewall -- when I bought it, and I removed it immediately. Kept it, of course, but what a relic!

Could it be the color? I have to admit I've always thought Valencia Blue was cool. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

That is sweet! Where does one find those carbs? They are not ZS-CD's.

What makes you say that ? They look like early Zenith-Strombergs to me. Carbs

They should be lacking some of the emissions add-ons found on later versions, but already an emissions version.
