One thing that really bothers me is not that the colors have been changed
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm starting to gather that a lot of people consider this a big deal in the Triumph world. Perhaps it's because the original information is included on the comm. plate. Although I have no skin in this game other than enjoying the price, I have often pondered the issue of original color. One thing to bear in mind is that in the AACA (rather than in the single marque clubs), the only issue about color is whether the paint combination is one you *could* have ordered when the car was new. Thus, there are a lot of folks (myself included) in the old car business who don't care what color it was when it left the factory. So, just remember that to many people this isn't a consideration. Also, for the record, my Healey was black when it left the factory. *yawn*

but that the commission number plate is a replacement, with wildly incorrect font (is it even stamped?) and showing the paint and trim codes (more or less) as they are currently rather than the Paint 19 and Trim 12 as it would've shown originally.

I agree with you there. I agree. Sometimes you have to change a comm. plate when they're bent, lost, broken, blemished, but it should *always* reflect the car. I'm also not a big fan of non-original carbs, and the top isn't correct as it lacks the reflective stripes.

Considering how much metal was replaced (hey, the seller's at least pretty honest about that), I also wonder why it didn't get a complete "body off" restoration.

Again, I agree with you. Seems like a lot of effort has been expended -- why not go the extra mile?
Anyway, still happy about the price. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
