Okay, I hope none of you guys is the owner of this car but I just couldn't help sharing the following. Lets just say one of the TR6's for sale on ebay has an interesting reason for being designated a salvage vehicle.....

"The state of Georgia has branded this car as salvage because of some tar spots that were on the paint."

ohhhh I want I want and for the bargin bin price of $9,500 you can buy it now. HAHA right, who'd spend that much on a salvage car?

NAW, its not true:"The state of Georgia has branded this car as salvage because of some tar spots that were on the paint." The truth is it became salvage because some one painted the rocker/valve cover black.

I from Georgia, and this state does a lot of dumb things, but I don't think this would be one of them. I smell a RAT.

Boy, you guys are really running with this one. I checked-out the Georgia DMV and they don't even require title for pre-86 vehicles. There's obviously more to this story but I'm not calling!

Well, it could have been salvaged due to something like flood damage, and as we all know you can rebuild a car thats been under some water same as you can one thats got 30 years of rust or a folded front end from a collision. However, the facts should be communicated in the posting, so something is definitely fishy as that tar spot on the paint excuse is just ridiculus. Probably easier to just get the reason from the state by running the VIN instead of trying to milk it out of the seller. Tell them the check doesn't get signed until you get the straight poop.

Those headrests do look familiar but I can't place them. Either way I'd dump 'em, the originals are much nicer looking IMO.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gifThe car doesn't look too bad. In Colorado, the insurance company deems the vehicle a salvage. Usually not the state. All that means is an insurance company paid out a huge claim on the vehicle at one time or another for who knows what. Heck, I've seen a late model Dodge truck theft recovery go through auction with a salvage title. Only thing that was wrong with it was the stereo was gone and the dash was messed up where they pryed it out. They just had to pay out before the truck was recovered. So who knows... I'd still be leary about buying something like that without seeing it in person first. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
