Ebay BE

Not too shabby, but I wouldn't pay 12,000 without personally inspecting it. And, I'm sorry that is not the original paint.

Is not orginal paint, correct. But I think is orginal color.

Darn that's nice. Told ya they going up up up. even in the last few months I see it.

I've resigned myself to not buying one unless I find an unwrecked project relatively close to me.

Sorry, guys - no disrespect meant...but no way in (you know where) that I'd pay $12,000 for a Bugeye! Or Midget either for that matter!

Tony, now worries.

but it does give me an excuse to spend more on mine. hehehe

But Tony, your a different kind of a guy. And even have a place to work and store things and such. And not the least, know how to do stuff, some folks don't.

That's my point everybody with a rusted out sprite or MGA thinks it must be worth $3000 because "one just sold on barrett jackson for 20,000". So they let it rust away rather than sell it to someone that has the desire to restore one of these cars, but not money to throw away on "popular rust". ACK

but I've seldom needed any excuses... or much encouragement.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Wow. I just tallied up all of my receipts for my BE project over the last year.......$25+

Nice to know it's worth less than half...guess I'm not selling anytime soon!

Whatmade such a big bill? If you don't mind me asking.

Usually spend twice the $$$

had to get that in, because ya know its coming /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif

Assuming you mean $9000.

Is this going to be a concourse car? I had no idea that body work/paint was so expensive. (I thought maybe you meant to type "19" meaning 1900 dollars.)

Good question. I believe the finished quality of the car is/will be concourse level, yes.

But the other big component of concourse--and why I wouldn't enter it into a "concourse" competition and why it wouldn't win--is because it's not 100% original, despite my vision to have an all original looking exterior and interior (cockpit).

There are too many mods under the bonnet for it to ever have a shot...so, to answer your question, no, not a "real" concourse car.

PS: by the way Trevor Jessie, $9k, not $19k

Remember to shop around for the best prices on things instead or just running to the big vendors (shameless plug! hehehehe)

I'm seriously out of touch. I've been lucky to have a father that does body/paint work. He is not a professional, but has been doing it as a hobby for 30+ years. And... I've not added up my receipts (and I won't) but if I had to guess I'd say I've put almost $8000 into my car. And it certainly isn't a show car.

When I first started my project, someone told me that I should never tally up 1) total hours spent or 2) total amount paid.

I violated the second rule today...and to be honest, I really wish I hadn't.
