Well, I suppose if someone is willing to pay $90+K for a TR4, then $30K certainly isn't out of the question for a 6... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

Probably the one that was in the VTR clasifieds. The guy said it was not going to be cheap.
He is absolutely correct. A car that has sat for 30 years has to have rust in every bearing, crook , cranny, and crevise. Probably take a major tear down and rebuild to get it running again.

If you're refering to a white car, I think I saw that..and that car is well worth the 30k....I'd rather have that over any restored TR6 nomatter how good it is. Anyone can have a car restored, but you can't get a car like that.....If I had waaaay to much money I'd own that by now.

Therein lies the rub. Would rebuilding the car destroy its value? I would think actually driving it would.
Finding a (very) low mileage original old Triumph is something we all dream about, but what would we actually do with it?
Fortunately, that car (and any car that is likely to become available in a similar condition) is out of my hobby car price range... or I'd be tempted. However, if I did own it, I suspect I'd have to hire an armed guard to keep me from driving it! <grin>

I agree with the premise that a number of components would need addressing like rubber and bearings. I think ones money would be better spent on a 30,000 mile car for half that amount. At least then you'd get a runner. Mine is virtually original with 44k miles and runs like a charm....although that white/tan combo is the TR6 combination of my dreams.
BTW - I wrote the seller and those are the original Goodyear redlines. That alone helps support the mileage claim.

Paretti Imports of Metairie (New Orleans), LA, has a pair of 1976 TR6's (BRG and White) that are in storage, never titled, still brand new. What do you think those are worth?
Not viewable by the public and not for sale. I saw them about 8 years ago, they are stored in a warehouse in Baton Rouge.

I guess the key word is "storage." Were they just parked, or properly "stored"? Probably the former huh?
I wonder what it would cost to bring them back to life? Four or five grand easy....engine/tranny, brakes, rubber, seats....

Old Man Paretti has these two big TR's, the last MGB and several Pontiac Fieros. They were the Triumph and MG dealer in the New Orleans area and currently are the Pontiac and Jaguar dealer. He wanted to keep them just because he could. Who knows. The head salesman at Paretti Imports is a real jerk so any inquiry about the cars is met with some SA remark of the day. I suppose if someone could ever get to the old man they could reason with him. I doubt it though. They used to have them on the floor and I would go ogle them. They have long since moved them to climate controlled storage. The would crank the cars once or twice a year and roll them around a bit, but essentially they have zero miles. Hardtops too!

The last time I saw the cars (about 8 years ago) they were very well maintained. Since no one has ever really sat in them, the seats ar probably like new. Now, does foam rubber age? The rubber products were all maintained, batteries never kept in the cars, etc. Of course, blocks do rust with coolant sitting in them. I dunno anymore. Surely they have kept them up, knowing what they are worth.
If you ever are in New Orleans (Metairie, a suburb - on Veterans highway) try bringing some fresh calzones to the old man, maybe he will take a liking to you. Or, if you know someone in the Cosa Nostra maybe you could call in a favor.
