It would seem that the small black bits i noticed on the underside of bonnet was the belt
after inspection found quite a bit impacted on the new water pump
pulley.

used a laser to align

any thoughts or just a bad belt :wall:
 
Do you think the belt is too wide? There are some that are wider than the original and cause squeeling.
 
Sometimes just a small piece of crud or a rock or a chip can cause your problem. I once had a tr3 that would chew up belts like crazy and what it turned out to be was a small painted line/spot that someone put in to help highlight the little hole on the crank pulley. Once removed no more problem.

Thats an idea
I will spin up the upper 2 pulleys and hit with light sand paper
and fashion a dowel with a v wrapped sandpaper edge to hit the main
thinking 300 grit
