V8 conversion, nice stance. Hate to say it out loud but, with a better engine, the shape is growing on me.

Are you sure that it is a conversion? Back in 1978 I was working as a car air-conditioner installer and one day the boss said that there was a Vega V8 install.
I told him that there was no such thing but he showed me the air-conditioning catalog and sure enough it was a factory option! I drove that thing into the garage from the parking lot and layed a strip of rubber 10 feet long before I realized how much power that thing had, it was even more powerful than my 948 Bugeye!!

I had a '76 vega wagon when I graduated college. I like the original front end better, but did like the size of my kammback. Wikipedia, we all know they are never wrong, states that the Vega never got a V8 but some of the variants did.

I remember see some V8 ones on at the local deal, but I think they were done after they left the factory.

Judging by the width of the rear tires, this was a conversion - a well done one too.

Bill,

I think that you mean a V8 Monza. Those were factory built.
I just saw one Saturday at a car show.

I had a v8 monza for almost a year 5 speed fast little car. A tuneup required you to change plugs sounds easy? NOT! you had to remove dizzy cap loosen exhaust remove motor mounts and jack the engine up till the whole works was pasted to the firewall. and even then it required the arms of an octopuss and some crazy combo of wreches and scockets and extensions. Fast little pain in the rear thou. Maroon sport coupe 1979 305 not a bad looking little thing. My first five speed car.
