Hi guys - so getting close to having that water logged OD gearbox back together. Got a call from my guy doing the rebuild and there is a missing "freeze" plug in the housing that Moss no longer carries. I grabbed a spare box and it didn't have the same casting.

It goes where the only shiny thing is in the picture ;-)

It is supposed to be beveled I believe. Any tips on sourcing one?

Tom, was the original like that or one of the "dish" style? What's the I.D. of the hole?

We already went the auto parts store route, while not exhaustive we couldn't find any of the 30+ sizes they had that will work. I couldn't get my calipers in there - might be a rookie thing - due to the location...

GOR... The "Inside Diameter" of th' hole. AS in caliper or ~inside diameter~ micrometer measurement?!?!

Or, you can get a "good enough in this case" guess by measuring the outside diameter (od) of the shaft that rides in the bore.

If you really can't source a suitable cup or expansion plug, you may have to enlarge the bore to a standard size, or perhaps tap it for a threaded plug.
