Early Sprite Wheels

I recently purchased, repaired, painted and added new rubber to a set of BE wheels. In the process I learned about the various versions, and thought I would pass it along to you'all (CA spelling).
About half of the wheels I purchased were bent and could be repaired, but would be expensive. Also, I have been told that to check for cracks betwwen the holes; more on that later.
The wheel shown below, backside view, shows the center section riveted to the outer rim. This was the first version. I am told they are not too strong and may leak air at the rivets.

The wheel above was used up to AN5-15150 (according to Terry Horler) in April 1959. The wheels were changed then to this wheel, but the rim was now welded to the center section. Note that the outer ventilation holes are in line with the large brake inspection hole. These wheels were used up to AN5-39224 (May 1960).

This is the third version, with the stronger ribs and the vent holes offset from the brake inspection holes. This is the version that I will use on my BE.

The third version above was used up to HAN7-26240 (Dec. 1962). The fourth version shown below replaced the vented wheels and eliminated the brake inspection hole. In addition the ribs are stronger. If any one wants to add this to wiki, be my guest.
