Spitfire Early Spitfire carpets

I thought I would throw this out to the forum. Does anyone know any person/company that sells carpeting for early Spitfires, late Mk1'a and MK2's. I am looking for the original cut pile gray with black mottling/speckling.

Isn't it actually loop pile? Regardless, it's the same "Smoke Grey and Black mottle" that was used in the early Vitesse 6 and Sports 6 cars. I've never seen anything close, but I admit I haven't looked all that hard (since I've yet to get around to doing anything with my own Sports 6).

I might toss this question out to some Herald/Spitfire folks on various other lists and forums and see what turns up.

Yes, I know exactly where and they are on sale! But only for another 20 minutes!! I am considering pulling the trigger to buy a new interior.

I hope this helps.

Also, I found them on eBay for cheaper, but they are not this nice molded type used on the Spitfire 4 (MK I).

If I'm not mistaken, the carpets are the same for all years. The molded ones are the best by far, but pretty pricey. I hate I didn't buy them a few years ago when TRF had them on sale for around $375.

On sale for $299 from Rimmer Bros, if you dont mind having it shipped from the UK. Newton Commercial is the manufacturer, same set as supplied by TRF, made on the original Firth tooling.

Shipping might be another $100 or so, might want to call them for an estimate. I have this set and it's great. I just bought the matching molded trunk set which is also on sale. Shipping for that was 36GBP (~$55). Not much more than a certain midwest supplier charges for shipping big stuff.

For reference, I had an entire stainless exhaust shipped from the UK for about 75 GBP (header, collector, y pipe, center muffler, twin resonators, clamps, everything). The box was about 4x2x1 ft. Even with shipping and $17 duty it was still about $100 cheaper than any US supplier for the same thing.

I just checked, they are $382 plus shipping.

You need to use the "Sale" link to get the discounted price. Click on "Special Offers" with the photo of the GT6. Then select "Interior Trim"; it's on the 2nd page.

If you don't navigate using the "sale" link, you get the "regular" prices. Sale price is $299.69, which is 22% off the regular price.

Thanks for that, going to make my order....

I ordered four carburetor springs from Burlen and the shipping (placed in an envelope and airmailed) was $15.00. Four springs cost $26 total.

Thanks for the Rimmer deal. unfortunately I need two sets. I may get a set for the 80 and leave the 64 bare.

Where in PA are you? I'm in the Lehigh Valley.

I am living in Switzerland, but have a house in Williamsport. I get back once a quarter so on my next trip back in April I'll work on the interior.

By the way, my garage looks similar to yours with a 135i 'vert, a 325 XiT, and the Spit.

My Spit is currently at Sports Car Haven in Bloomsburg getting the paint stripped off. They are going to paint it back to its original red so I am looking forward to posting a new avatar soon. I wanted to strip the paint off myself, but when going home I find that there isn't that kind of time available. Dad is 90 and Mom 87, and I prefer to spend my time with them.

Back to the Spit.... I still need a new interior. It was stripped on the inside as everything was painted that blue you see in my avatar, even the dash. I am not sure about the seats. I think they may be original but need rebuilt. I need to check to make sure they were changed out at some point. To be honest, that blue looks kind of cool but it doesn't make sense to me not to bring it back to original.

The car also has the hard top, but I am not sure that I want to restore it. I'll never use it.

I lived in Poland (Krakow) for a year; from 07-08. I know what it's like to go through LBC withdrawal!
