this is really pretty. A little bit Karmann Ghia in the back, a little bit cartoon car in the front, but very pleasing. Never seen one like it before.

That is cool. I was expecting the more square (newer-style) Fairlady roadster.

Never saw one of these before.
 
I must say that i continue to be amazed how regularly i see a car i have never seen before whilst cruising the interweb. Like you i was expecting the square body - no ides they made them that far back but it is so cool to see new stuff!
 
Windscreen and steering wheel lifted almost directly from an Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite.
Nice little car. I like it.
 
It is a little cartoonish (watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit last night) but a cute little car. I am very surprised it still exists, I worked at a Datsun dealership in the late 60's, some of the cars were showing some rust signs on the dealership floor.

Kind of like the discription of a Porsche -

Some of that styling reminds me of a Swallow Doretti I once owned.

Thinking about it, the Japanese mechanicals and styling were very far behind current British in the 1960s. I wonder if this car might not have been an inspiration for the Datsun, given the reliance and long association Datsun had with BMC designs and engines.

I had a hard top for a Fair Lady which I bought by mistake! Sold it to a guy in Ontario two years ago. So theirs one up there, or there was anyway. PJ
