Neat article, thanks James.

In about 1977 I drove the family to the Northern tip of Newfoundland -from Baltimore- so we could see the settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows, and of course all the rest of the great scenery in the Maritime Provinces. The NF roads were in the process of being paved then, but we had a few hundred miles of gravel. Would go for hours without seeing another vehicle. Those Vikings really got around.

Heck, Newfoundland itself is on my bucket list, would love to go some day, watch the Targa Newfoundland car race, and I do want to go see L'Anse Aux Meadows, I understand that corner of the province has a very low population even still, very quiet...

the first confirmed Viking outpost in the Americas. Dated to between 989 and 1020
Well then, they should change the name to Oldfoundland by now, don't ya' think?

I second Greg's motion, we'll outvote all th' Newfies with a "third" and "all in favor say: 'aye!' " and then they'll HAVE to change it.
