Web cam live with Little Eagle due now. In northeast Iowa off Trout Run Road near the Decorah Fish Hatchery the nest is 80' up in a cottonwood, over 6' across and weighs more than a ton. Eagle Cam

Good stuff! Love to see this!

We've had a pair nesting on the Rivanna river near here for the past couple of seasons. It's not unusual to see them, but somewhat rare and always exciting.

Possibly one of the best places to view a wide range of hawks is along I-64 passing through the central VA counties of Albemarle and Augusta. In about a 40 mile stretch, I've seen as many as half a dozen red-tail hawks, sitting in trees near Interstate. Probably looking for road kill.

Awesome and majestic, and of course, beautiful birds. :yesnod:

We have red tails here in the back yard. Generations of 'em. Watch the young ones learning the ropes from mom and dad. Fascinating.

And we have VERY few rodents. We've seen 'em pluck squirrels right out of the treetops.

vagt6, just minutes after the eagle flew over a red tail hawk landed in my yard just 10-12 feet from me and only 8 feet off the ground, it stayed there long enough for me to go back in the house locate my camera fumble back outside only to find dead batteries in it, first eagle i saw here was while in a canoe with my fishin buddy art in very thick low hanging fog that allowed maybee 6-8 feet of visibility, we began to hear something making a loud swishing noise behind us and it was getting louder and louder, i turned around to look at art and there was an eagle wings in full flair attemting a landing on arts shoulders i yelled at art to get down while the eagle stumbled in its flight attempting to regain altitude, as it passed over me the eagles right wing smacked me in the face sending my hat into the water, while finding itself in such dence fog the poor bird must have been disoriented and desperate for a place to land mistook the canoe for a floating log.

Anthony, I guess you're lucky it was the eagle's wing that hit you, and NOT his talons. I imagine they could do serious harm to a human, if so inclined. Fearsome birds.

Doc, it's amazing to see a hawk catch it's prey. My wife and I were sitting on the backyard patio one summer day, enjoying the view when a large hawk SWOOPED over the roof into the back yard, clutching a dead rabbit.

The hawk landed about 100 feet away in some bushes and proceeded to tear fur off and eat a few bites of the poor rabbit. Then, he flew off like his tail was on fire.

What's really amazing is you literally cannot hear them coming. Very quiet, and blazing fast. I estimate that hawk flew in at at least 40-50 MPH with a rabbit in his talons. That's impressive.

Never ceases to amaze, watching raptors. Nature's perfect predator, perfectly adapted to the job of hunting. :yesnod:

We had a Red Tail move into our large yard, with many trees, for about 10 days last year. Stayed around whilst he thinned out the chipmonks. Like watching a kid go through a bowl of pop corn.
Have had hawks take doves right off of our feeders, too. Kinda like going through the drive thru at Mickey Dee'S. There are some eagles around, but have not yet had any stop.

I didn't know Mick had a drive thru at his house.

Not on my 'puter. Is there a time difference lag?

Keep watching. When she gets up one of the eggs is cracked and eaglet movements can be seen, as it tries to break out.
