E Bay Rover

Oh no don,t get me started.........Just too far.........BUt you are right..........Very good deal......A little underpowered with the single carb and automatic but then again i,m just talking myself out of bidding........LOL

That was a really nice one from the looks of it......glad I didn't see it before it had sold....I would have wanted it! Underpowered or not, these cars were really advanced for their time, and were really well-made. I had the 3500S version and I loved it, wish I still had it.

It sold for $1495..........A great deal........interior alone was in mint shape and worth the money by itself.........I wish it was closer.............i would have bought it myself...........I've already got 2 2000TC's and looking at buying a friends 3500S with 5sp manual......Almost bought an SD1 on the weekend but came to my senses before i did.........darn Rover fever.........Get your other car out of storage and fix it before buying something else.............LOL Does anyone else talk to themselves or is it a Rover thing

Not just a Rover thing, but I believe that it is a trait of LBC owners.

I'd like a SD1 - V8/5spd. Unfortuantly they are mostly cut up for MGB V8 swaps.

There was an SD1 here in Ontario.....Quite good on Ebay a few days ago........Typical of Rovers.......Bidding only went up to about $2000.........Well below his reserve i suspect......Didn,t sell

Must be the one in Kemptville you are speaking of. Ebay #4500581119? There is one day left and no bids. Starting bid is $3499.00 US.
Been thinking how bored I am with the 2000 Century after a summer of driving the TR7, and was going to read up on this model, and maybe think about bidding. What is good about these, and what are the bad things, Mr. Rovernut? And, it this price still too high for a car this old?

Thanks

Dave -

Tony Barnhill's got one for sale. I've seen it - not bad...

THat car is very good in Kemptville ........They are good cars with chronic electrical woes........Typical British nonsense with every electrical device ..........Just too modern for me........However the price while being way too low if you are the owner is unfortunately about right in the real world.....SD1's like most Leyland cars of the era suffer horrendous build quality........He received bids up to $2010 the last time, which would have been stealing.......I would buy it and drive it at that price regardless of my feelings for the car

Although tempting, news that our offer for a house in the country was accepted yesterday, changes any thoughts of bidding on the Rover. BUT.. in the spring, (if we sell our present house), we will have a huge bungalow on an acre lot, with parking for 12 and a garage that fits 4.
My wife also "suggested" that I should put the money into the GT instead, which I totally agree with anyway. I think she is laying clame to the MGB? Maybe in the spring it will be on the block again. Looks like it would be a great four door tourer, but a lot more time consuming then my other LBC's.

The Ebay SD1 was quite good.......It did sell for 3500US ....... well under its value..........A great disservice to the owner but a steal for the buyer...Only 1 bidder for a car much better engineered than most Brit cars but again suffering from Prince of Darkness electrics
