E Bay Bid??

I was bidding on an item on ebay and decided it wasn't worth the effort, so I canceled the bid. Funny thing is, the guy who was running me up dropped off also. Don't know for sure, but after checking his ID, there might be a connection between him and the seller, might even be the same person. Good way to get the price up. That's why I don't like the bidding idea, just give me a buy it now price and I'll decide if it's worth it to me or not. PJ

Paul - I've had similar things happen too. What gave you the clue that the other bidder and the seller were "connected"?

In my case, if I cancelled a bid and the only other bidder cancelled after me, I'd just figure he decided the same thing I did - changed his mind.

Unless my memory's going faster than I thought (!), aren't the bidder ID's "coded" so you can't see who they are?

Thanks.
Tom

Who's auction was it? I bet it was the same clown that did that to me. Seems to be a pattern here w/ LBC parts....hmmmm.

Remember, you don't really "win" and auction. You just agree to pay more than anyone else thought it was worth. :jester:

Yet another reason why it makes no sense to bid before the last 30 seconds. Decide what it's worth to you, enter your bid, and if no one else wants it for more then you win. No games.

:iagree:

I use a "snipe" program too to automate the process. Then I can set it up hours or even days beforehand, and not be enticed to try to beat a bid even if the price goes higher later.

I agree, and a lot of times i`ll even wait until there are only a few seconds left in order to beat out the snipers if I want the part bad enough.

Very true. When I bid on e-bay, I just place a bid of what I'm willing to pay, and then don't visit the listing again until it's over. I like the "buy it now" listings. If the price is acceptable, I own it. If not, I forget about it.
