Dynamo to "Dynamator" Conversion

I am about to undertake what appears to me to be a daunting wiring issue in installing a Dynamator (alternator in a dynamo body) in my 1967 BJ8.

First off I find something not in any wiring diagram or instructions. It is a capacitor of some sort that goes from the same terminal as the Brw/Yel large wire on the D terminal of the voltage regulator and is attached to the firewall.

Is this like a noise suppressor? Will it be needed with the new alternator?

Looks like somebody added an ignition condenser to the 12V output circuit; I don't think that's standard but, yeah, it's probably for noise suppression. I have a BJ8, and it's not nearby so I can't check right now, but it doesn't look my OEM or any of several aftermarkets replacements I've installed. I'll check mine tomorrow.
 
These capacitors were added when a radio was installed to reduce voltage regulator noise. It is not needed for alternators.
