Dynamat subsitution?

I thought I had read somewhere on the site about someone using a Home Depot product that was a substitute for Dynamat.
I can't find it in a search. I also did not find anything at Home Depot that look like Dynamat.

Does anyone recall or know of this substitute or other products that would work?

Ebay has some clones such as FATMAT.
 
I have used the Home Depot product you mentioned. It is a self-adhesive rubber window flashing that has aluminum foil on one side. I ran out of it working on my spit, went to the Depot, and the local store only carries it plastic coated. I am sure you can find it. It is about one tenth the cost of Dynamat.
 
I think Lowe's carries what you are looking for, check out the roofing department.
 
I think you have to distinguish between insulating for heat, and insulating for sound. Here's a link to a previous discussion on this:

Some of the things advertised as sound insulation are being used for heat insulation, and vice versa. Sometimes not a good exchange.

You can find Dynamat at really good prices at bigger car shows that have a swap meet or vending area. The last tme i used it I did a 55 F-150 top to bottom for about $45.00...way cheaper but you have to plan ahead and buy it before you need it...

I've also used the bubble stuff and it just isn't the same...
