I have upgraded my stock dynamo to a Lucas C45 Dynalite, but I have a wiring question. I installed an upgraded wiring harness that has higher gauge alternator wire. You can see in the attached pictures my harness plug and the terminals on the Dynalite. Does anyone know of a pigtail that will attach the Dynalite to this harness plug (I think the plug is an A127)?

I can't find any information on this. I wrote to AH Spares but have not heard back.

Hi Rich--

I hesitate to quote AI-created answers, but if you put "Lucas C45 Dynalite A127" into a Google search box I think you will get some answers which may or may not be correct!

I would be inclined to figure out what the wires go to and cut them. I think most alternators have two leads; one for rotor excitation and one for output (some are self-regulating; this one could be). Then, put ring terminals (your choice, crimp or solder) on the leads and bolt the wires up as usual. You will probably need to gut the regulator.

No known ready-made pigtail exists for mating an A127 harness plug to the Lucas C45 Dynalite. Most people re-pin the existing connector or make a custom pigtail using correct gauge wires and terminals to match the Dynalite’s studs. AH Spares or vintage wiring suppliers might offer parts.

Hi Gents, You are all spot-on. No pigtails exist that I can see. I'm going to end up cutting off the plug from the wiring harness, putting ring terminals on the leads and then connecting the alternator directly to the wires. Theoretically...this should work great. Thank you for your advice! Getting close to being done and getting my engine running again!!
