Next to me in line to cross the border on the weekend. Interestingly, it is a water cooled engine as evidenced by the rad on the side - I can only presume it's out of a transporter.

possibly, except that it was rear engined, and any other car would be a hassle to get to run right (and it had a GTI badge on the back)
 
Meyers Manx, makers of the original buggy, say the new gen of builders are liking the subaru engines ecpecially the WRX motor to make a real street fighter of a buggy.
 
Have seen several buggies with the Subaru 2.5litre flat four with turbo engine, straight out of the WRX. First time I have seen a radiator standing out to the side like that though.

Another popular hot rod engine for those buggies is a Corvair engine.

Which end the engine originally went in is not much bother.
 
Very cooling-looking!
Sort of like a rear-engined Super Seven.
